Privacy Policy

The short version
You are a screen name here. Your real identity stays private, everywhere, always. We store what we need to keep one human equal to one voice, and we never show authorship on any public surface.
What we collect
When you sign in (Google), we receive your email address and a provider identifier. We create a private account tied to that identifier. Your email is used only for authentication and is never displayed.
When you choose a screen name, that name becomes your only public face on the platform. It is not linked to your real identity on any surface anyone can see.
When you use the platform, we store the ideas you share, comments you write, reactions you place, and backing choices you make. Each of these is tied to your private account internally (so one person gets one voice), but the connection between your account and your contributions is never rendered, never exposed through any public view, and never shared.
What we never do
- Show who wrote an idea, response, comment, reaction, or backing on any public surface.
- Sell or share your data with advertisers.
- Use your contributions to train machine learning models.
- Track you across other websites or services.
The pseudonymous model
Life Echoed is built on the principle that thought should be judged on its own, not on who said it. Your screen name is the only identity shown. Real identity is stored in the backend strictly for accountability and the one-human-one-voice guarantee. If the platform ever needs identity verification for action (not speech), that check happens privately, through a verification provider, and the result is a yes-or-no status, never a public reveal.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database protected by row-level security. The application is hosted on Vercel. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with Google as the sign-in provider. No data is stored on third-party analytics or advertising platforms.
Cookies and sessions
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party cookies of any kind.
Future: money and verification
When the commitment and action layer launches (not yet live), financial transactions will be handled entirely by an outside custodian. Life Echoed will never hold funds, process payments, or store financial credentials. Identity verification at the money boundary will be carried by the custodian or a verification provider, not by us. We will store only a status and a reference string, never raw identity documents.
Your choices
You can change your screen name once every 30 days. You can delete your account by contacting us; deletion removes your private account and breaks the link between your identity and your contributions. Contributions themselves (ideas, comments) may remain as anonymous records in the commons.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and note what changed. Material changes (a new data practice, a new third party) will be announced on the platform before they take effect.
